Rev. Faith Fowler is the pastor of Cass Community United Methodist Church and executive director of Cass Community Social Services (CCSS), a Detroit non-profit which responds to poverty with programs for food, health care, housing, and employment. As executive director, she oversees the organization\u2019s mission to provide one million meals annually, house homeless Detroiters, provide health care through two free medical clinics and jobs for adults with significant barriers to employment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Beyond her work at CCSS, Rev. Fowler has served as a board member for the Cass Corridor Neighborhood Development Corporation, an advisory board member of the Detroit Area Agency on Aging, as well as a board member and trustee for the General Board of Church and Society. She currently is an Albion College trustee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rev. Fowler\u2019s contributions have been recognized by many others. Her honors include: Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters, Albion College (2015); Art Van Hope Award (2014); Detroit Free Press <\/em>Michigan Green Leader Award (2010); Detroit News<\/em> Michiganian of the Year Award (2003); and University of Michigan \u2013 Dearborn, School of Education, Distinguished Alumnus of the Year (2003).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Among her many personal accomplishments, Rev. Fowler\u2019s work at CCSS is a personal reflection of her mission to invest in Detroit and its people. One of CCSS\u2019 projects, Detroit Treads, not only puts unemployed Detroiters to work, but also recycles illegally dumped tires into fashionable sandals and mud mats. In 2014, Rev.
